Important Travel Information
Virginia | June 29, 2021
As COVID-19 restrictions continue to lift, and the world opens back up, Americans are beginning to travel again. Whether you are travelling this summer, or planning a future vacation, I want to be sure you have the most up to date information on needed international travel documents.
Due to increased demands and delays in processing, people are experiencing longer than usual wait times to obtain their necessary documents. The U.S. State Department currently predicts up to 18 weeks for routine passport service, and up to 12 weeks for expedite service. You are encouraged to apply at least six months before your planned travel. Additionally, you can use several online passport services considering the longer wait times.
Adults with 10-year passports can renew their passports by mail. All children under the age of 16 must apply for a passport in person, and these passports are only valid for 5 years.
Please be sure to check your passport before booking any international travel and visit this website for further information. As always, if you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact my office at 202-225-4261, or click here.
Sincerely,
Rob
